Research over the past decade or so seems to indicate some health benefits of fats and proteins in nuts and seeds. They are however very calorie dense and in my opinion should be consumed in moderation. My favorite cardiologist Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn recommends those with heart disease to avoid nuts because of their saturated fat although I believe he allows seeds.
